FILM FESTIVAL

DEADLINE: August 3rd 2024.

The Hannah Arendt Institute of Artivism (INSTAR) is calling for the V INSTAR Film Festival, to be held simultaneously in several venues around the world between October 28th and November 3rd, 2024. The event is an annual film showcase that supports international independent production and favors audiovisual works with daring aesthetic and narrative approaches, especially those produced within dictatorial or authoritarian contexts.

CALL FOR ENTRY

The Festival is open to works completed between 2022 and the current year, of any nationality, length, genre and format. Each author may submit as many works as he/she/they deems appropriate. A single competitive section will be established, where feature, medium and short films will coexist, with no genre restriction. Expanded cinema, experimental cinema and works from the field of visual arts will also be included.

An international jury will award the Nicolás Guillén Landrián Prize to the work in the competition that best reflects and explores, through audiovisual creation, a taboo subject of its corresponding society. This prize, which can be shared by decision of the jury, is accompanied by 3000 USD to support the development of the winning artist's next work. With this initiative, INSTAR aims to pay tribute to the incisive film work of Cuban documentary filmmaker and painter Nicolás Guillén Landrián.

This call for entries is open from June 3rd to August 3rd, 2024. The official competition selection and special screenings will be announced on INSTAR's website and social networks in September 2024.

Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of its rules. In case of any violation, the works will be automatically disqualified.
