    Gleyvis Coro Montanet
    (Pinar del Río, 1974)

    Gleyvis Coro Montanet is a dentist, poet, writer, and university professor. She holds a doctorate in Education from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She won the UNEAC Cirilo Villaverde prize for novel, the Literary Critics Annual Award in 2007, and third prize in the Inter-American Narrative Contest, AVON Foundation for Women in Buenos Aires, 2007.

    At the 14th La Gaceta de Cuba Short Story Awards, she received the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Creation prize for “La voz que no es de Björk,” in 2007, and honorable mention at the 15th La Gaceta Short Story Awards, for “El frío quema parecido al fuego,” in 2008. She received First Mention for “Elogio y reconquista del fuego” at the 2009 Casa de Teatro International Short Story Awards, in the Dominican Republic.

    She has published Con los pies en las nubes (Gran Premio Vitral de Narrativa, Ediciones Vitral, 1998), Cantares de Novo-hem (Décima, Ediciones Loynaz, 1999), Escribir en la piedra (Premio Alcorta de Poesía, Ediciones Loynaz, 2000), Poemas Briosos (Ediciones Aristas de Cobre, Córdoba, España, 2003), Aguardando al guardabosque (Poetry, Ediciones Loynaz, 2006), La burbuja (UNEAC Cirilo Villaverde Prize for Novel, Ediciones UNIÓN, 2007. Literary Critics’ Award, 2007), Jaulas (Poetry, Editorial Letras Cubanas, 2009) and Mujer de letras / Woman of letters, a bilingual poetry collection (The Edwin Mellen Press, 2010). She has lived in Madrid since 2009, where she published Lejos de casa (poetry, Cristal de Agua, 2018), Mujer, aparta de mí ese smartphone (Gata Encerrada, 2020) and Cien días en cuarentena (Gata Encerrada, 2021). She also wrote and produced the video theater piece, Troya Tropical (2021).
