    Yania Suárez Callyero
    (Havana Cuba, 1975)

    Yania Suárez Callyero is a narrator and essayist. In 2002 she received a Bachelor of Arts from the Universidad de La Habana, and in 2009 she received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Western-Ontario. She studies the work of Jorge Luis Borges. She has published the book of stories Usted tiene derecho a hacer silencio (Casa Editora Abril, Havana, 2002) and collaborated with essays in various national and foreign magazines. She has been a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude. A regime of censorship and injustice threw her to the margins of cultural life in Cuba and since 2013 she has also collaborated with the independent press.
