    Michael Gil

    Michael Gil studied classical music and guitar at the Félix Varela Center in Havana, Cuba, under the tutelage of Barima Gort and Mayra Cruz. From the beginning, his musical career has been oriented to the creation of music or soundtrack for documentaries, audiovisual concerts and theater, among which the Percepción Audiovisual Project stands out (National Museum of Fine Arts City of Havana Cuba, 2004) with artist Nedine del Valle, and the soundtrack for the documentary deMoler by Alejandro Ramírez (2004). In 2008 he emigrated to the United States and began a new stage marked by the study of ethnic musical instruments from different cultures and education. In 2011 he founded Luyanó Band, a world music project, and later the world electronic music trio DJ ma non troppo. Along with presentations, concerts and collaborations with local and foreign artists, Michael has given lectures and workshops on ancient instruments such as the didgeridoo, berimbau, mbira, dun dun, mouth harps, among others. For more than ten years he has participated in afterschool programs in South Florida, Miami-Dade County public schools, Miami International Book Fair, Miami Dade College, among others.
