    María Cristina Fernández
    (Santiago de Cuba, 1970)

    María Cristina Fernández’s book of stories, Procesión lejos de Bretaña, won the Pinos Nuevos Prize in 2019, from the Letras Cubanas publishing house. A year later, her book El Cielo de los deseos won the Abril Prize, awarded by the eponymous publisher. In 2001 her novel Cachete y la Tropa del Don was awarded the Kindergarten Prize, from the publisher El mar y la montana. In 2006 she emigrated to Miami, where she independently published her book of short stories El maestro en el cuerpo. In 2016, Silueta published her narrative book No nací en Castalia, followed in 2020 by P, her last book of stories, by the publisher Furtivas. Her stories, poems, reviews and articles have been published in various magazines and anthologies, including Diario de Cuba, El Nuevo Herald, Conexos, Letralia, Hypermedia and others.
