GUEST:
PEDRO CORZO
HOST:
GRETHEL DOMENECH
Synopsis:
Interview with Pedro Corzo, writer and journalist with a long career in the fight for human rights and the recovery of Cuban historical memory. On this occasion he tells us about his beginnings in the political opposition to the Cuban regime, his experience as a political prisoner in the National Prison of Isla de Pinos and his subsequent departure from Cuba. He also reminds us of the number of political prisoners that Castroism began to accumulate from its early years and the different moments in which they have been exiled from Cuba, as was his case, to Venezuela in 1981. Once outside Cuba, Pedro Corzo shares with us his work in exile that continues to this day, first in Venezuela in organizations such as the Union of Cuban Political Prisoners of Venezuela and the Cuba Independent and Democratic (CID) group, and then in the United States as head of the board of directors of the Institute of Cuban Historical Memory against Totalitarianism, which is aimed at investigating and reviewing processes related to the fight for democracy in Cuba from 1959 to date and whose mission is to rescue the historical memory of the processes of Cuban dissidents and opposition.
