    Synopsis:

    Filmmaker Emmanuel Martín talks about his films: short films such as “En el iglú” and “Buen viaje, Stalkers,” which have become cult films, and his two feature-length fiction films, “Historias de ajedrez,” filmed entirely in Santiago de Cuba, and “Un homme sous son influence,” recently completed in Montreal. He reflects on independent creation in Cuba, the particularities of filming a movie in the provinces, and the challenges an artist faces when he takes the path of emigration.

    Emmanuel Martín

    Emmanuel Martín Hernández (Cuba, 1983). Filmmaker, actor, journalist and chess teacher. With the exception of "Un homme sous son influence", filmed in Montreal, all his films have been made in his hometown, Santiago de Cuba. Among them are the short films "En el iglú" (2008) and "Buen viaje, Stalkers" (2011), as well as the feature film "Historias de ajedrez" (2019).
