    HOST:
    ANAELI IBARRA

    Synopsis:

A conversation with Liam Durán, documentary filmmaker and LGBTIQ+ activist. Liam was the founder of Alma Azul, a network of trans men in Cuba, inscribed within the institutional activism of the CENESEX. After leaving Cuba, Liam was accused of treason and the history of Alma Azul was erased. The activist speaks with us about the logic that the institutionalization of LGBTIQ+ issues follows in Cuba, the co-opting of the trans community´s struggle, the way in which the guarantees the system offers for LGBTIQ+ people is subordinate to their ideological loyalty, the loss of autonomy, institutional violence, the criminalization of the LGBTIQ+ community who choose not to subscribe to the political principles of the CENESEX.
