Synopsis:
The academic Francisco Valdés-Ugalde will tell us about the cycle of political autocratization that is experienced in our region.
Bio:
He has a Doctor in Political Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is currently a senior researcher at the Institute of Social Research at UNAM and a professor at FLACSO México. He is a member of the National System of Researchers. He was General Director of FLACSO México in the period 2010-2018, also of the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Mexican Revolution (2001) and has been a professor or visiting researcher at the Universities of Columbia, Harvard, Brown, Connecticut, California in San Diego , Salamanca, and the José Ortega y Gasset University Research Institute.
He was director of the Mexican Journal of Sociology from 2007 to 2010. He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and other international professional and academic associations. He has been a collaborator of the newspaper El Universal in Mexico since 1996 and is part of the Advisory Editorial Board of the same newspaper. From 2008 to 2015 he was a member of the Reflection Group of the Secretary General of the OAS. He is an Individual Member of the Superior Council of FLACSO and currently presides over this governing body.
